Kath Wilkinson joins PenCRU
Kath Wilkinson has joined the PenCRU team to work on the Hospital Communications project, which involves trialling a training package designed for hospital staff to improve communication with disabled children.
Kath has worked at the University of Exeter Medical School since 2016 and is also involved in a number of other projects within the Child Health team at the University:
- A trial of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy to prevent depressive relapse in young people
- The Paediatric Acute Care Project, which aims to evaluate system-level interventions to improve paediatric care and reduce admissions across the south-west
- An evaluation of the impact of the ‘Family Vision’ parent leadership programme, designed specifically for lone and single parents, who are the main carer for children following an experience of domestic abuse and/or family breakdown.
Kath has a degree in Psychology, a Postgraduate Certificate in Inclusive Education, and a Masters in Developmental Psychopathology. Prior to working for the Medical School, Kath worked with the Sociology department at the University of Exeter on a project seeking to embed evidence-based practice in policing. Kath has also previously worked for national charities in research and evaluation roles, undertaking projects within education, health and social care with a focus on service improvement and research-informed practice.
Kath is really looking forward to working with members of the Family Faculty and with other colleagues within PenCRU in 2018.
