Disabled Children at School

Parents and carers have often discussed issues about schools and education at PenCRU meetings. As health researchers we don’t have specialist knowledge on this topic, and have therefore developed links with colleagues at the Centre for Special Educational Needs and Disability at the University of Exeter to explore ideas for research relating to evaluating integrated education and health services, and how to improve the experience of disabled children at school.

The Children and Families Act, 2014, included a duty on local authorities to draw up Education, Health and Care plans for children with special educational needs and disability.

We convened a meeting with several parents and education researchers to discuss collaboration and potential research ideas. View notes from the Education Collaboration Meeting 28 Jan 2014
